I’m Maia, founder of Dumai, and I’ve never been able to walk past a jewelry booth without stopping—even just for a quick peek.

My mom loves to tell the story of a vacation in Punta del Este, Uruguay, when I was two. A man was walking by at the beach selling necklaces, and naturally, I had to have one. “No,” she told me, “you got one yesterday.” Later, family friends joined us and asked me for a hug. My response? “Only if you buy me a necklace.”

So you could say this has been a lifelong thing.

What I’ve always loved about jewelry is that it doesn’t change you or take anything away—it simply adds. It’s the finishing touch that can make a white tee feel intentional, transform a simple dress, or make you feel just a little more put together. It’s still you, just with a little added oomph.

That philosophy is at the heart of Dumai.

I’m not interested in creating jewelry just for the sake of creating more. Dumai is a tightly edited collection of pieces I genuinely believe deserve a place in your jewelry box—pieces designed intentionally, styled effortlessly, and made to be reached for again and again.
